I believe that Sayid is infected by Jacob. Jacob has access to the temple and MIL does not. In order for MIL to recruit and infect, he has to entice the lostees. Sawyer wants nothing more than to leave the island, Claire wants to find her baby, and his new recruit will be Jin, he wants to find Sun. MIL had no contact with Sayid.

Why would the Others be opposed to someone being infected/claimed by Jacob when they follow everything Jacob says?
When did MIB entice the French crew? I'm not certain any direct contact in necessary for infection.
I don't think MIL is enticing to infect so much as gain people on his side so he can storm the Temple.

When the Losties brought Sayid to the temple, one of the questions that Dogen asked was who shot him? Jack answered that with "it's my fault....." but didn't actually say who shot him. Ben's dad is the one who shot Sayid in 1977, because Sayid shot Ben.
This is a bit of a stretch, but Linus was one of the names that was scratched off. If every time Jacob & MIL go through the cycle of candidates, the candidates are recruited to one side or the other to make progress towards the end, and if Linus was MIL's at one point, could that be how MIL got Sayid infected....through Ben's dad?
