I believe that time travel on LOST has existed as far back as S1. When Sayid is held captive by Rousseau he tell Rousseau that Nadia died. Later on in the episode when he is let go and tells Rousseau what was on the back of the photo he talks about holding on and searching for the person you love.
In the episode where Locke, Jack, Kate and Boone are looking for Charlie and Clare and they separate into 2 different groups Kate and Jack are together when we hear screams and Jack asks Kate if she heard them and she apparently doesn't seem to hear them but Jack races up the hill and says he wasn't going to let this happen again....
The most telling one for me is Locke in S3 Further Instructions where he tells Eddy the FBI man that he was a hunter.
Could the Losties have been traveling back and maybe are not as conscience of it like Desmond is. Maybe this is why he is so special. In S5 when he talking to Faraday he is conscience of the time skipping and is the only one that we saw that knows this. Which leads me to a random thought that I would love feedback on how come Richard Alpert didn't see this skipping and is not aware of it.
I get the entire time travel thing but if someone could answer a few things it would be helpful like...
How come Rousseau didn't recognize Jin?

How come Rousseau didn't recognize Jin?
I know I've had odd experiences and met odd people, but I don't think I'd be able to properly recognize a one of them after several years...let alone 16. Not recognizing Jin, who Danielle had very little to no interaction with after the crash, is understandable to me.
Her saying that she had never seen the Others, yet clearly saw Ben take Alex, is something a bit stranger. But I guess that's just to be blamed on her being crazy Island lady who hasn't had a soul to talk to in for freakin' ever.
Interesting theory, though. I like it.

I agree it wasn't surprising she didn't recognize Jin. Even if he looked familar, she would probably discount it, as she would expect Jin to be 16 years older. At most, she would think, 'hey, that guy reminds me of that other guy I saw so long ago'.
