From Lostpedia
ABC.com have launched a new website "Lost University" at Comic-Con. Coming soon to Blu-Ray Hi-Def, Lost University seems to be a new ARG and supplementary Blu-Ray disc on the mystery and themes of Lost, allowing you to dig into more information about the show's background.
You can sign up now to get an email closer to when enrolement starts (22nd September 2009 - 5 years to the day since the show first aired, and Flight 815 crashed). The University course seems to be split into two semesters with courses beginning December 8th 2009 (The US launch date of the fifth season Blu-Ray DVDs). The courses include His 101: Writing on the Wall, Art 101 : Seminar - Inspiration and Expression with Jack Bender, Phi 101 : I'm Lost Therefore I Am and Phy 101 : Introductory Physics of Time Travel.

Technology changes, but the economy sucks and not everyone has the money to spare to buy a new movie player and more expensive blu-ray discs when DVDs are still current. It's not exactly fair to require all Lost fans to do so just to be involved. They could have easily made it simply online and accessible to everyone with internet.

The PS3 is $299 if you can't afford $300, then you shouldn't be on the computer playing an ARG you should be at work

I enrolled - got 21/23 on the quiz Someone should start a Jay and Jack frat on the forum! Also, Damon and Carlton have both posted a couple times on the forum. From Damon: "Good, I'm glad everybody likes it. In approximately two short months everything will be up and running. As for the Blu-Ray dilemma, we are working on alternate solutions for those of you who don't have a Blu-Ray player or a PS3. Again, thanks to all of the Lost fans who keep us going. I'll keep you all updated on any information about either the Season 5 Lost DVD's, or any other questions you have REGARDING LOST UNIVERSITY, NOT our TV show. But stay hungry for some more invigorating Lost, early 2010. Inquisitiveness is golden. Thanks again, Carlton." UPDATE: From Carlton again: "Good evening Lost fans! I appreciate all of your comments. Now, to answer some of your questions... 1. It is essential that everybody has a Blu-Ray player for the Lost Season 5 Blu-Ray set that includes the Lost University extras. It has been decided. Lost Season 5 will also be coming out on DVD but will not include any Lost University extras. I am sorry for any disappointments." So yeh, I guess no luck for those who can't get blu-ray. Sorry guys! Then again, there isn't really any way right now to tell if that is really Carlton or not. He seems to be genuine though, so it probably is. So it seems like if you can't afford Blu-ray you'll still be able to participate to a certain extent. UPDATE #2 - neither Damon or Carlton on the forum are in fact them. They are both users pretending to be them. This was posted by an admin on the forum, who also said official people would be clearly identified (and that guy WAS an admin - he locked the thread.)

The PS3 is $299 if you can't afford $300, then you shouldn't be on the computer playing an ARG you should be at work EVERYONE should have a spare $300 or they're just not working hard enough? That, my friend, is so ridiculous I cannot even fathom. That said, I can afford a blu-ray player, I'm just not it's worth it to buy one just for a Lost ARG... xD I'd rather wait before upgrading, especially since new technology is being developed even further every day.... But we'll see. On another note, anyone pay attention to that statue question when signing up? Sobek isn't even an option.
