If, as I believe, Esau takes on the form of the departed who are significant in people's lives -- then how was he able to be two people in the cabin?
When Hurley peeks in he sees (I think) Christian Sheapherd in the rocking chair, then someone with brown eyes look back at him.
When someone else goes to the cabin, Christian is there again, but so is Claire.
