I've disliked Kate since I think about when she slapped Sawyer in the face for calling her out on the flip-flopping between him and Jack. Once again she acts the poor victim being attacked and completely failing to realize her shortcomings so that she can get over them and move on.
She doesn't grow. She just stays the same.
All that's changed is that she developed a bit of a matural instinct. But even that she was willing to be over with and want Claire's return.
Sadly...her lack of "moving on" is probably what has kept her in the safety zone of not dying for all this time.... Closure tends to equal death....
