I hope im not the only one thats finds this annoying, but everytime i see a dharma station or dharma flashback i always think the same thing, where are DHARMA getting there electricity from ?
In some like it Hoth we hear power grinders and other equipment happily being used to construct the swan and orchid in the middle of the jungle !
In season 4 faraday made a reference to this when the group went to the medical station to get surgery equipment for jacks operation and daniel comments " i wonder where all this power is coming from" and that was after the so called power station "the tempest" was shut down by daniel !
Now i know its probably one of those things that the writers probably arent worrying about but it would be nice to get an answer
personally i think its something to do with a combination of jughead and electromagnetic power but i dont really have a clue

Probably a combination of geothermal and generators. Good question.

as long as there is an answer i dont mind what it is they could easily get hurley or jack to ask horace or chang, hmm wonder where the power is comming from ? then one of the them could say "oh its geothermal mixed with etc" that would be enough for me, it really grinds my gears when i watch lost and in the background in the middle of the jungle there is power LOL i hope we get a hint from faraday in the variable, even if its like a 5 word answer !

LOCKE: Where do you get electricity? BEN: We have two giant hamsters running in a massive wheel at our secret underground lair-- LOCKE: Yeah, that's funny.

I think that just because the writers put this exchange in there, it is something that will come up later, maybe. But a mix of geothermal (the volcano) , solar, and gas powered generators sounds about right...

It might be answered, but I personally doubt it. I myself didn't think about it until you mentioned it now. You could also ask how Dharma transported all their stuff to the island (the building materials/polar bears/etc couldnt have all fit in the sub, could they?)
I'm not too concerned with it myself, it's the kind of thing thats never answered on shows (ok, Im having a hard time thinking of one right now, but Im sure there are other shows that dont answer how electricity is available in a certain place).

Well most shows don't take place on deserted islands, so power's pretty easy to explain by modern living... But there are things that we usually take for granted that don't usually get explained in shows. But as indyandy said, because Locke asked about it, I would at least like to think they'll explain it. Even if just in passing conversation.
