Eko should have been Sayid?

Just wondering about something. We have this whole backstory thing on Sayid now, with him being a natural born killer, and of course he went all assassin after Nadia's death. In the first couple of seasons though, there wasn't so much about him as a killer. He was a torturer. In fact, that's how he introduced himself to Ben. I'm wondering if the part being played by Sayid was originally to have been played by Mr. Eko. After all, Eko was set up to be a natural born killer, and have a total indifference to human life, until he was redeemed. But then the actor, Adawale, left the show and they ended the character. I wonder if they moved Sayid into that slot? Maybe the next time someone runs into Damon or Carlton at the Starbuck's, they can ask them for me
