Just a speculative comment: Despite his mutterings, Faraday will end up telling Charlotte and her Mom to get her off the island because he will learn about the purge from the other losties, and know that even if he can't save her past 32 years (or whatever age she was when she died) he can save her past the purge.

Good question! We already know (from Juliet's comment to Sawyer "that was my house" that the new Dharma group have knowledge of the future. So Daniel would know that Charlotte will die on the island in the future - and, if there is no alteration in the timeline as stated by D&C, he cannot prevent her death even by warning her to leave. What happened happened! And what will happen will happen.
So it makes no sense to tell her anything while she is small ... ergo the scary man who told her that must have been someone else. Unless .... by this whole sequence we are being shown that present actions can affect future ones.
On another note, I think that the only way that we will see the timelines reconcilled is that the island will be moved again by John who knows how and that there will be a huge epidemic of amnesia for some. Maybe not for Daniel who, as we saw back at the start of last season was clearly a mess before he went back to the island.
And yet another point - we know that Miles, Daniel, and Charlotte existed in time off the island while the 815 group was still there - in that same time frame, and that Abaddon was in contact with them as well as with Lapidus. The thing that makes them different from the other people is that there were losties on the island while those people were not yet there, right? So in this regressed Dharma story line those people are (without Charlotte) also regressed. But we know they get off the island.
So I think that basically tells us that they all get off.
A bit off track, I realize but I got to thinking about this and all that just sort of came out!

Daniel says "what happened, happens" but I think he is not entirely correct, as per Mrs. Hawking. Remember, she said time was self correcting. So you could change it, but then other things would happen to reverse the changes. So Charlie really did get extra days/weeks of life because Desmond intervened. If Daniel realizes this, he may be motivated to get Charlotte all the time he can.

But Desmond gained Charlie only a few extra days by meddling, and then time/fate corrected its course and had another go (!) so Daniel would have to tail Charlotte for the next 32 years if thats the case wouldnt he?

I don't think it has to be identical to Desmond/Charlie. Anyway, the Purge doesn't happen for a good number of years.

Hi all. Does anyone think that Charlotte and Daniel may be related? I know some people think he could be her father. The whole time travel thing is confusing, it keeps you guessing, it just shows how brilliant the writing of the show is.

Yes, I still believe they are related somehow...mostly now because of the way she looked back and waved at him (in recognition) Little children don't usually do that unless it's started by the other person. Of course, though this IS Dharma-land, akin to 70's flower power groups!!
