Why did Richard Alpert want Paul's body - seemingly as a repayment for his loss of 2 of his men??? What was up with that? Will we see Paul walking the island again (not that we saw him walking at all as he was kinda all shot up when we 1st saw him)?

I can't think of any other reason a body is valuable other than 1) the island will bring him back, so Richard didn't want him buried. 2) it seems that a body is often brought back to the island and becomes alive again- Locke or Christian style ???dunno

Horace also mentioned something like "hope you didn't bury them too deep" to Sawyer about the KIA hostiles. Hmmm.
Oh yeah, on the subject of dead bodies, what gives with Charlotte's. Faraday said she disappeared (ie went elsewhere)

Charlotte's body didn't disappear, everybody else time traveled twice more when Locke turned the wheel. Synchron

I am wondering if "The Hostiles" - AKA Richard's Group - don't take care of all burial duties on the island - for both themselves and DHARMA - or maybe they use the bodies to feed Smokey - who knows?
As for burying them too deep - I think that was just Horace thinking out loud and being considerate - he wanted to make sure that Richard and his people wouldn't be too out out trying to dig up their men.

I think he took Paul's body just to prove to his people that they were even. I'm not sure what they are going to do with it yet.

I wonder if burying of the bodies has to do with Smokey, or the island itself. The only people that we have seen walking around on the island are people that have not been buried Yemi, and the guys from the Beechcraft, Christian Shepard, the only one we have not see was Goodwin, unless someone buried him. Because remember when we saw Danielle and Carl buried after getting shot we all thought it was strange. Maybe if they are buried they can not be used as "puppets" in a way.

But if the island brings people back alive, why aren't all the log-carrying guys roaming around again, or possibly those military men from way back when that Richard and company said they had to kill...

Because when the island moved all the dead disappeared with it, like with Charlotte. It might also be why when in season 3 when Colleen died, they put her on a raft and let it burn out on the ocean, instead of just burying it.

After watching it again, I think Richard tool Paul's body to show that one of the Dharma had been shot/killed by one of his men and THAT is why they were killed, because they killed first.

I agree with Clementine, it was to show his men that it was all even and no further action needed to be taken. Alpert seems like a fair and local type so far.
