I started listening to Jay and Jack this season and I'm hooked. I'm new to Lost in general because I didn't start watching the show until last year. I rented season 1 and then watched the whole series in a matter of a few weeks. When season 4 came out in December, I got it from Netflix and watched the whole thing in about a week so this is the first season I could watch Lost on tv with the rest of the world. I much prefer this way because I can digest the show, watch it a second time a day or two later, and then listen to this podcast. It creates a real anticipation for the next episode and I retain the information much better. When I was watching 3 or 4 episodes a day on DVD, it was like eating candy but I've found that I missed some things. Anyway I'm glad to be aboard with the rest of you Lost fans!
Question: What is a "showcap"? Jack has mentioned it a few times regarding scenes from the show. When I pause the show at home, or freeze-frame it, I can take a picture with my camera and post it if I want. Jack talks about looking at the "showcaps" to see things in a scene he is interested in and then put it in the podcast. Just wondering what a showcap is.
Funny thing Jay and Jack said: In recapping "Jughead" neither Jay nor Jack knew what the rifles were on the episode even though they were mentioned in the episode as like-new M1 rifles. They were WWII era M1 carbines but Jay and Jack called them "deringers" which made me nearly run off the hiway when I was listening to it! Come on dudes! Deringers were small pistols from the 1800's that you'd see women carry in their handbags or in their garter belts in the saloon. I wouldn't expect people to know the exact model of a rifle or firearm by sight but doesn't anyone who ever watched a western know what a deringer is and the difference between one and a rifle?
