2/4 Episode "The Little Prince"

After watching the "next wednesday" ad after the "Jughead" episode last week, I am SUPER excited the "The Little Prince" this week. I think they gave us BIG clues as to when the island is now and it's gonna be fun to see this one... Here is WHEN I think it moved to this episode...

•Locke is nearly pulled underground by the Monster. He tells Jack that he believes they were all brought to the Island for a reason, and that Boone's death was "A sacrifice the Island demanded" as part of a test.
•The Hatch is opened
•The Others shoot Sawyer, kidnap Walt, and destroy the raft.

"Man of Science, Man of Faith"
•Locke lowers Kate into the Hatch - She slips and Screams
•Desmond Turns on Bright Light in the Hatch and Kate is gone
•Locke Follows her into the Hatch
•Jack then comes after them and we meet Desmond
•Shannon pursues Vincent into the jungle. She sees Walt, soaking wet. He whispers something then disappears.

I thought the light shown in the preview was when Locke banged on the Hatch, since it went with the Clair/Aaron timeline, but now after watching the ad again I think it is the first episode of season 2. It makes more sense to have the REALLY bright light light up the sky and they have a scream at night in the ad...I remember Kate screams when the rope slips when Locke is lowering her down there just before the bright light turns on. Maybe we see both of those time frames. AWESOME!

It's gonna be fun to see this one...if that is indeed when they went and I think it is

This is gonna be really neat to see. Ever since they started travelling I have been waiting for them to bump into each other.

I freeze framed through the Next Wednesday preview, and noticed a couple things.


There were 2 frames of claire, she looked to be yelling in pain.

There was 1 frame of a dark haired girl that I have never seen before.

Will we finally get a Russo story?

I have not read The Little Prince and I assumed it was referring to Aaron. I went to Wikipedia and it seems the story has several parallels to the show. Among them:
The point of view changes throughout between first person and third person (kind of like the flashes?)

The Prince is telling stories to the narrator during his first eight days of being stranded in the desert

The prince lives on an asteroid with 3 volcanoes and a rose

The Prince spends his days caring for his "planet", pulling out the baobab trees that are constantly trying to take root there. The trees will make his little planet turn to dust if they are not pulled out (the Losties spent the first 2 seasons pushing the button to save the island)

The Prince goes to visit 6 other asteroids where he encounters the following characters:
* The King who can "control" the stars by ordering them to do what they would anyway. He then relates this to human subjects; it is the citizen's duty to obey, but only if the king's demands are reasonable. He orders the Prince to leave as his ambassador.

* The Conceited Man who wants to be admired by everyone, but lives alone on his planet. He cannot hear anything that is not a compliment.

* The Drunkard/Tippler who drinks to forget that he is ashamed of drinking.

* The Businessman who is constantly busy counting the stars he thinks he owns. He wishes to use them to buy more stars. The Prince then goes on to define property. The Prince owns the flower and volcanoes on his planet because he cares for them and they care for him. Because one cannot maintain the stars, he argues, the Businessman cannot own them.

* The Lamplighter who lives on an asteroid which rotates once a minute. Long ago, he was charged with the task of lighting the lamp at night and extinguishing it in the morning. At that point, the asteroid revolved at a reasonable rate, and he had time to rest. As time went on, the rotation sped up. Refusing to turn his back on his work, he now lights and extinguishes the lamp once a minute, getting no rest. The Prince actually empathizes with the Lamplighter, who is the only adult to care about something other than himself.

* The Geographer who spends all of his time making maps, but never leaves his desk to explore (even his own planet), going on the pretext that it is the job of an explorer to do so. Even if an explorer were to visit the Geographer, the Geographer is very doubting of any explorer's character and would most likely disregard the report. He does not trust things he has not seen with his own eyes, yet will not leave his desk.

The Prince then visits Earth....in Chapter 16.
On the Earth, he starts out in the desert and meets a snake that claims to have the power to return him to his home planet (A clever way to say that he can kill people, thus "Sending anyone he wishes back to the land from whence he came.") Hmmmm.

In Chapter 24...the narrator's point of view changes again from third person to first person, as the narrator is dying of thirst, but then they find a well. After some thought, the Prince bids an emotional farewell to the narrator, explaining to him that while it will look as though he has died, he has not, but rather that his body is too heavy to take with him to his planet. The Prince then allows the snake to bite him. (John Locke = Prince; Snake = Ben?)

The Little Prince is represented as having been on Earth for one year, and the narrator ends the story six years after he is rescued from the desert. (6 years = 6 seasons?)
