I was watching the first couple of Lost episodes and I noticed that most of the meat-and-potatoes had wounds on their faces. That isn't very strange but, I wondered if the wounds had any meaning or significance. Here are the places of the wounds for each meat and potato. Jack- 2 cuts on his left cheek, 2 cuts on his right cheek and a big cut on his left side/back. Locke-(I think this is the one with the most meaning.) A vertical slash above and below his right eye. Claire- a scrape on her chin. After she was taken- a scrape on her left forehead. Ana Lucia- a scrape on the right part of her forehead. Hurley- cut on left eyebrow. Boone- Scrape on left jaw Jin- I think he has something but, I can't tell. Sun- cut on left forehead. Sawyer- cut above right eyebrow. Micheal- cut on right forehead. Rose- was dead. People with no wounds= Walt, Vincent ;D, Charlie, Kate, Shannon, Sayid, EkoTell me your thoughts.

Is there anything that the woundees have in common vs. the non-woundees? There are people who have killed people in both groups, so it can't be like the mark of Cain. Or can it?
What if we just take forehead wounds to be the mark of Cain? Still doesn't work. We have Ana Lucia, Sawyer, who are killers and maybe Jin. But also Sun, Michael, Hurley, and Locke who as far as we know are not killers.
How 'bout right forehead wounds as mark of Cain? Then we have Ana Lucia, Sawyer, and Michael. Is there something we don't know about Michael? And where is Kate's right forehead wound? Not sure if Locke's wound counts as forehead since it frames his eye.
Speaking of Locke's wound, does it remind anyone else of those harlequin clown paintings from way back when? Clowns creep me out anyway. Is Locke's wound a foreshadowing that he is really a creepy guy?

O.K. Try this on for size. People are wounded in certain places because of needs they have.
For instance, Claire is 8 mos. pregnant on an island with no hope of rescue. She has to be terrified. Her chin wound symbolizes that she needs to "keep her chin up" or be brave.
Jack is wounded on both cheeks. He needed his cheeks slapped for the way he treated the worker at the Oceanic Air check-in counter. His side wound represents being "broadsided with responsibility" of taking care of plane crash victims.
Locke has a wound outlining his right eye. Wasn't this the eye that stayed normal looking in Claire's dream? Locke needs to see into the heart of the Island and Locke is a seer of sorts.
Ana Lucia has a forehead wound. She needs to use her head, stop, and think.
Sun has a forehead wound, too. When she realized they had crashed, she probably hit herself for not leaving the airport at 11 am like she planned.

I seem to have missed something very important. When was Rose dead? After the crash she was on the beach .. she was talking to Hurley about the sounds sounding familiar (sounded like the plane falling apart up in the sky to me). She was there when they all heard the monster. She was on the beach when Jack brought her over for the fusilage burning. When was she dead and when did Ethan say that Rose wasn't dead yet? I swear, new things keep appearing on my dvds all the time. Dharma must be messing with those too lol.

oops forgot to say that those are fantastic explanations Annie! One thought..maybe Kate has a mark on the opposite side of her forhead because she didn't really kill anyone she 'only' tried to (if stepfather is alive).

um... Rose was dead in the first episode when the plane crashed. Jack preformed CPR to bring her back to life.
