Question - in last year's finale, if i recall correctly, Jack says "some very bad things happened" after/because he left. Now he's saying people will die if he doesn't return. Not quite the same thing, did i hear that correctly?

I looked on lostpedia at the transcripts and the only thing I can come up with is that something happened after the "Oceanic 6" left the island and that something will happen if they don't return. Basically if they return to the island, the Oceanic 6 will land right in the middle of some kind of event that will end badly for their friends if they don't show up in the first place.
So many tenses, so little time. Working out this dialogue must have been a nightmare for these writers.
