Thought the movie was great. Some connection to LOST... Time traveling creates an alternate reality that become the new reality. The timeline is changed perminently. I wonder if that is an indication of JJ's general thought process and is an indication of how LOST is going to go.

Wow - where's the discussion about the new Star Trek?
I would think a lot of Lost fans would go see it.
I thought it was excellent. My only issues are very Star Trek geekish. Anyone not steeped in Star Trek lore would probably not even notice.
EVeryone - go see it.

One interesting thing I recently learned about the new Star Trek is that the new Enterprise is longer and larger in mass than any previous Enterprises we've seen, including the big D and E from the Next Gen era. I suppose this is because after the Kelvin was destroyed at the beginning of the movie and the timeline splits off into this new alternate reality timeline, Starfleet decides to build their next line of ships much larger so as to better handle confrontations with gigantic Romulan space ships that pop out of nowhere. Odd there are so few windows on the ship, but the size does allow for many more shuttlecraft. I lost the link, but if you google "new enterprise scale comparison" someone has a chart showing the scale of the new Enterprise compared to other famous sci-fi space ships.

I've heard this too but I'm not sure if it is "cannon" or even "new timeline" cannon.
