As a life long Star Trek fan, I resent being told I only watch shows that are perfect. I just happen to have opinions about things and like to express them. Something against ya, man. I'm just typing.

I don't say this just to hate: Fringe is one of the worst dramatic works I've ever witnessed, in any form. After walking out after the first half hour when they premiered it at Comic Con, I decided to give it another shot and finished watching the pilot last night. Writing: terrible. Acting: worse. Premise: unoriginal. "Twist": my freaking eyeballs out if I ever have to watch another second. I agree the lead actress was as wooden and laconic as they get. Also it would have been nice if they didn't have Josh Jackson play Pacey again. Just a weak Xfiles rip off.

Does anyone know how well fringe did on the viewing results on tuesday and sunday? did they get what they wanted? i havent herd anything about it. You can check out TV show ratings here: www.zap2it.com/tv/ratingsPremiere episode last Tuesday had about 9 million viewers. Sunday encore had 6 million. Last night's Episode 2, improved to 13 million! The second episode was really good too!

I thought the second episode was a BRILLIANT improvement on the first. Much more gripping, but it still feels it's lacking the sucking in value that Lost had.

Fringe really is this generations X-Files with a little Lost mixed in. Why is that a bad thing? I'm in and loving every minute of it!

I generally like the show, but I think I know what is lacking for me.
Everything has some psuedo-scientific explanation to it. There is little mystery left by the end of each show as to what the explanation is for the strange thing they encountered that episode. The only mystery is why these things are happening, not what is happening.
I think what I like about Lost is this tension between faith and science, where you don't completely understand the why or the what, and when you start to think you do, it blows out and you see a bigger picture and realize you once again don't understand the overarching why or what.
Does that make sense?
Basically each episode has a pat explanation for the weirdness, and it seems a little too easy to just use these semi-scientific explanations to explain it all away. You lose something from the overarching plot because there is this resolution every show.

so, I liked this last episode a lot more than the past ones. I felt it is starting to bring in some of the elements I mentioned above. That there may be a bigger layer above what we were being led to believe was going on. Also more tension between science and faith which was interesting.
So who do you think the bald guy is? Do you think he just has precognition or can also read minds? They seem to be pushing the whole not human thing with the whole spicy food scene.

I agree, this last episode was really good. They are starting to get into a little show mythology now. I also noticed the scene with the hot sauce and was reminded of a past favorite show about aliens named Roswell. The good news too is that Fox has picked up Fringe for a full season! www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-foxgivesfringeabacknine,0,4023417.story

I like to watch Fringe with my roommate. We MST3K it every week. Because it's stupid. It's a stupid show; that's what I think. But it's still pretty fun to watch if you aren't watching for content, or good acting, or interesting writing...

I think the show is pretty good - so far I've only seen the first two episodes. I have to catch up (I have them all taped). But yeah, it's nothing spectacular or anything, just something to watch while I wait for LOST to come back

I used to be in a band called "The Joshua Jacksons" so I felt as tho I was obligated to see "the further adventures of Pacey Witter". Also, Denethor from LOTR starred as his dad, and there was a cow - what could possibly go wrong?
I watched... and now I know. What is more: I now wish I didn't.

Anyone else think the finale of Fringe was amazing? JJ Abrams can do no wrong right now. Lost, Fringe, Star Trek - Hat-Trick!
