Just listened to the new episode. Was good, although you could tell which segments were made pre & post Comic-Con. Did you guys end up following around Cliff/Hybrid around with a camera at Comic-Con? When I was growing up in NY in the 1980s, Batman would be on WPIX-Ch11 on afternoons when I got home from school. Looking back the show looks corny & dated but at the time I loved watching it. And yes, Jack, I know who Chief O'Hara was. I remember Batman had this one cross-over episode with the Green Hornet & there being a stand-off between Batman & the Green Hornet and Robin & Kato. Looking back, Bruce Lee vs Robin? No contest. Listening to Jack reminisce about the 1960s Batman brought to mind a Simpsons episode where Adam West made an appearance. "How come Batman doesn't dance anymore? Everyone remember the Batusi?"

I should preface this by saying that I haven't listened to the Podcast yet, so I may be repeating things that Jack said. I assume it would be Jack, since I'm talking about the Batman TV series and only old farts like he and I would really know it. Young pups like Jack couldn't possibly appreciate it for the high art it was ;-)
It was a show that couldn't exist today. Back then, there were only three networks and shows tried to appeal to everyone in the family. (Remember all the variety shows?). So there was the kid-appeal (music, "SOCK! BIFF! WHAP!"), and the adult-appeal camp (music, "SOCK! BIFF! WHAP!) but there was also the inside joke type of thing that appealed to adults. Like the fact that Gotham City was across the bridge from "New Guernsey". I think every show featured Batman and the Boy Wonder "climbing" up the side of a building and someone would open a window and talk to them. It wasn't anyone kids would recognize, but adults knew them. Sometimes a famous singer or a movie actor, it could also be a newscaster or politician. And the villains were cool to kids, but funny to adults because they usually got actors that were very widely known outside of TV. The actors seemed to love doing it and played it completely over the top. Everyone remembers Roddy McDowell, Burgess Meredeth, Ceasar Romero (who didn't even shave his mustache - if you look close you can see it under the makeup). But also people like Liberace and Otto Preminger. Nowadays, shows are laser targeted and very few attempt anything like mass appeal.

I liked Kaylas segment. I was planning on reading Breaking Dawn the first day, but after reading most of it, I was just so disappointed I had to stop. I didn't like the major twist in the beginning, and of course it got worse when I read Jacobs part, because I've always hated him. But after rereading the book I really love it, it's probably my second favorite in the series, behind Eclipse. Thanks for the review!

I recently caught up with all of the old Married Man podcasts and had to laugh at how subdued Warm Taffy used to be. And now how "Creepy Uncle" he has become. It's hysterical. Keep up the great work guys.

I really liked the book review segment as well. I have been listening to podcasts where they are clearly "homers" (Thanks for the fancy new word Jack!) to the Twilight series and it was nice to hear a more unbiased opinion. I hope that Kayla is up for more book talk in future episodes!
