I just got Panic at the Disco's new album Pretty. Odd and was utterly disappointed after find out that it sounded exactly like Tears for Fears' Everybody Likes a Happy Ending. Being a huge fan and amateur songwriter, I get inspired by their work but don't try to make a carbon copy of what they already accomplished work. But i just don't listen to them. I try to incorporate some Radiohead, Talking Heads, Sabbath, Who and Blur.
Green Day already become the new Who with American Idiot and My Chemical Romance become Queen. Seems like most bands today are worried about sounding like someone else not something new. It's already been done a few hundred times. Inspiration is one thing but a blatant copy, I don't know.
It was cool when XTC and Oasis did it, but Panic at the Disco?? Come on!! Let's stop the stealing!!

I disagree coldplay sounds a lot like u2 but there stuff is good you can sound like someone else as long as a band you own it you have your own sound even if it sounds kind of similar

I agree, that's why all the music from the 60's-90's is a select few of groups in today's era (radiohead, oasis, coldplay, muse, weezer, the shins, wolfmother) is good music, all the rest are too busy trying to be some other band instead of finding there own unique sound.
check out wolfmother, you've probably just heard woman on guitar hero II but they're a really great band, their sound a lot like zeppelin and black sabbath, but like I said they're not trying to be someone else, they have their own unique sound constrution

First, everybody steals in someway from everybody. Rap, enough said. Second, even the Beatles stole from people. "Come Together" is a lick from a Muddy Waters song, "Something" is borrowed from James Taylor's "Something In the Way She Moves" and Paul took the middle part of "A Day In The Life" from Brian Wilson's "Vegetables". When it comes down to it, most modern music, like original stories, have all been done, everybody's been influenced by somebody and it will show.
Yall crack me up defending Coldplay of all of today's musicians, probably the most overrated band of our generation. Not only do they steal U2s music, they also steal from Radiohead and Pink Floyd with out the lyrical genius. Put simply Coldplay's sound is a polished mainstream approach to try and grab as many fans as possible, the trade-off, they're music doesn't mean or standup for anything. Much like Bush of the 90s for stealing Nirvana's sound, Coldplay will eventually forgot as a "too little, too late band"

Eno produced their new album and he was responsible for The Joshua TRee i know i was really exited when i heard that, there sounds are similar. I said coldplay sounds like u2 i mean a lot but there a great band, also not all rap is bad MOST is but i realy like some of the guys out jay-z and kanye ( i hate kanye as a person however) in defense of both rap and coldplay check out www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yvPGeMDKYQ&feature=related Coldplay has always released a full album and put thought into every album. and i agree every one copys others few admit it but i know chris marten says how much he likes u2. Chris Martin compares Coldplay to U2. The Coldplay frontman, whose new album 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' is released this week, looks to the Irish rockers as a measure of success.
He said: "U2 once said they were reapplying for the job as the best band in the world. On 'Viva La Vida...' we feel like we're just reapplying to be a band again."
"I always view our albums in terms of U2 albums. 'Viva La Vida' is our 'Unforgettable Fire' in that it's less straightforward, more oblique. It's about sex and death and love and fear and travel and illness. There's light and there's dark."
Despite the critical acclaim the band have received, the 'Violet Hill' singer doesn't think Coldplay are the best band in the world.
Chris added: "The best bands in the world today are probably Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros. I think Coldplay is only the seventh best band in the world."
Earlier this week, Chris revealed he has been dreaming about U2 frontman Bono. He said: "I always dream about other musicians. And with U2 or Radiohead it's always, 'Hey, how are you doing?' And they are never interested in hanging out with us. It's a permanent feeling of being at school and the bigger boys don't want to play with you." two good unique bands are bad of horses and death cab

I just don't like the music. It doesn't do it for me. And that Rolling Stone picture might be one of the worst things I have ever seen.

Well, I may not agree with you, but I respect your opinion, speaking of Rolling Stones (the band) besides "gimme shelter" I can't stand THAT band.
