Lost Maestros Cuse and Lindelof Talk Future Online Experiences and Comicon Exlcusives

Just got off the ABC conference with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse of LOST. The dynamic duo of mysterious islands were on the horn for about 40 minutes with reporters from around the globe to discuss the game plan for the return of LOST, and beyond.
I was lucky enough to sneak a few questions in and went right after the source of mounting anxiety in the LOST fandom: what they have planned for us after the season 4 finale, which they revealed would be called “No Place Like Home.” Once LOST comes to a close at the end of May, fans will be facing another daunting hiatus of at least eight to nine months.
“… we have the Kernal of a cool idea. We loved the “FIND 815” [Online Game] and we hoped to do a similar thing where there is an online prologue that will lead into season five. And hopefully generate some excitement and interest in what that season is gonna be.” Carlton Cuse told me.
“We’re also talking about what we’re going to do with Comicon, which will be before any of that stuff leading into the season but might be tied into it. Last year we showed The Orchid video, which is going to pay off in a big way in the season finale this year. So we would love to do something similar to give the Comicon fans an exclusive look at something.” Damon said.
Carlton added that Comiccon fans would get “Kind of a first taste of what we have planned for season five. “
As for the two extra hours the LOST gang has in the bank as a result of the strike shortened season, no firm plan exists at this time on how best to spend it. “I think it’s a little bit fluid. Like this year, we wrote the finale and we found ourselves having a 75-80 page script and realizing we couldn’t cut it down, so we’ll allow ourselves enough latitude to see where we sort of hit a critical story mass and might need some extra time.”
Among the other matters discussed in the call, LOST maestros promised that the fate of Danielle will be revealed in short order, the four toed statue WILL make another appearance when the time is right, and that the nick name of this years game changing moment ‘The Frozen Donkey Wheel’ will make perfect sense when we see it. I remain skeptical.
