Cliff, you shouldn't feel bad. At least you showed up at the airport a day BEFORE your flight.
I once showed up at the airport, plenty of time left before my flight. Walked up to the counter, smiled at the woman there, and handed her my ticket info. My heart sank when she said, "Sir, this flight was yesterday." Made me feel like a complete idiot!
At least there was a happy ending - she was very nice and got me on a flight that day with no extra charge, even though they could have just said that my ticket was worthless since I didn't show up the day before.

Everything seemed to work out for Cliff. Besides getting harassed by his friends.
I once was living in London on a visa and had booked a round trip ticket with a return flight a year later. The day I was suppose to leave I remembered, but I was off on a weekend trip. BA wouldn't reschedule my flight because we had to have 48 hour notice so my girlfriend and I lost our return flight tickets. That was a nine hundred dollar mistake or about five hundred pounds mistake. Which in pounds was not that bad since I was paying with British currency.

Yes, traveling is fun.
I forgot passport once, traveling to France. My parents must stop whatever they were doing and bring it to me at airport at the last minute...
