Jail Time for killing people in games???

i just saw this article about a new legislation being proposed in germany that will make it illegal to kill people in games.what is the world coming to?

Yea Germany has very strict video game rules.

The new bill fails to define explicitly the difference between acceptable and unacceptable. Do the little men in Company of Heroes count? What if you only kill bad people? Will excuses like: "Hey, it was self-defense, officer! That zombie was coming right for me," keep you out of stir? At least we can be sure the politicos aren't just trying to attract the votes of our in-game victims.

I feel like I have to apologize for the stupidity of fellow Germans.

There're so much politics playing into this ... of course the school shootings are a very emotional debate ... and Bavaria is the most conservative corner of Germany ... seldomly representative for the rest of the country.

My younger brother organized Lan parties in school (with a couple of thousand participants) .. he would jump out of his skin if he read this. Now - attending university - he concentrates more on his studies though and leaves for Australia any day anyway.

A lot of politicians introduce a lot of crazy laws here to make headlines. I am not too worried yet.


PS: And no ... I don't play computer games. Not opposing them ... just having other priorities.
