Do you mean similar to Tidus' limit system from FFX?

not really.. well kinda.. when ur mp gets full, its called one "mist charge". on the lisence board, u can get things that double and tripple your mp giving you up to three "mist charges". u go into a Quickening and all 3 party members can use their mist charges to launch an attack. as the attack goes, u have 5 seconds to press triangle square or x and select the next attack. so theoretically you cna only launch as many attacks as you have mist charges, but zero-three of the party members who DONT have a mist charge can randomly get the words "mist charge" by their name, and you hit their button twice to launch their next attack in the combo. if no1 has "mist charge", then hit r2 and it'll randomly give zero-three people "mist charge" again. its hard to explain but incredibly simple to do. the hard part is that the 5 second timer gets shorter each time you do a quickening, so by the time you're at 7 or 8 you have 1 second to see if any of your chars have "mist charge", and hit that person's button twice. I am kinda overwhelmed with the liscense board. I'm not really focusing on it until i have every character in my party and decide what i want each one to be. I'm only like 4 hours into it, so i don't really know what I want the characters to "liscense." Shinra, how are you doing yours?

well i got the guide so ive read about everything. basically you want to have a strong melee, a fast melee, and a mage. the two melees should go towards the bottom half of the green area (from the part with the amulets etc, go southeast, still on the top half. the strong melee will take dmg, so get him heavy armor and a str based weapon. the fast melee will have light armor and a speed weapon, and the mage will have mystic armor and a mystic weapon (staff). i asumed i'd want one of each so i started that right away. tho it doesnt say to do this, i sugguest you go straight for quickenings, cuz they'll dominate pretty much any boss you fight, at least so far they have. ya gotta get good at it tho

I saw this trailer for FFXIII, and even though this crappy YouTube vid doesn't do the graphics justice, you FF fans have lots to look forward to in the next one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvyHcBzetrk

Matt get that thing away from me. Don't remind me that 12 will probably be my "final" fantasy.... sorry, couldn't resist. Grr... ff12 got hard. At the part where you have to save ashe, I saved her, but I can't beat the boss, Judge Ghis. I guess I will have to resort to leveling, good thing every 5 steps I take, I get mobed by 5 enemies.

wow, that's the exact spot my friend is stuck at. I had no problem at all, beat him in less than a minute. and i only had one quickening then. u should head for them, if u get 2 you're pretty much guaranteed a 1hit kill

I think i will just level and get liscense points. Since I still have Vossler as a guest, battles should be pretty easy. Is it me, or do your benched party members get lp even though they aren't in the fight?

Yea, I try to have everyone at equal levels. I have two complaints, money is harder to get and some enemies are surprisingly hard. So we have to buy abilities, magicks, and weapons/armor, but it takes forever to get alot of loot. And right now I just died from an enemy that did about 2300 to everyone on one turn. I don't think half of my guys have broken 500 yet, why do they put that monster in early in the game? It was probably a friendly monster but with gambits on my characters attack anything that moves.
The liscense board is still overwelming. Fran and Ashe are kinda in limbo right now, I don't know what direction to focus on.

i still have one person with her board undone, but thats it.
loot/gil- chain and steal. ive been able to afford the best weapon for every person as soon as i got it just by chaining and stealing from every enemy. to steal, use a couple of people to steal first atk, then use all normal attacks. this may result in unnecesary steals if your first char gets it, but it'll be helpful for the loot trust me. For chains, focus on killing a bunch of the same monster. the best place for this early on is when you get into the city in the air (i forget its name) and you're in the cave, the 2nd bridge you cross will be filled with skeletons that pop out of the ground. they'll come 2 at a time if you move slow enough, and you can steal from them and get a wicked high chain, i stayed til i was at 50. once u get past about 20 every monster will h ave a good 80% chance to drop loot, or so it seems. also theres a nice chance for double loot. steal from these too. their loot is some bone or somethin that sells for a high price, 200 or somewhere abouts, not sure. anywhoo, money and loot shouldnt be a problem if you steal from every enemy you face, and focus on chains
as for the super hard monster, one of two things happened. you attacked it, or it was a mark for a hunt you requested. marks only appear if you request them, and theyre automatically hostile. I have yet to encounter a monster that deals 2300 to everyone, apart from maybe the werewolf. were you in the southern desert trying to power up a stone? if so, those are very easy to avoid, theyre only in one spot and you dont need to go there. other than that, all the monsters that are super strong are not hostile at first, and your gambits shouldnt make them target nonhostiles. another possibility is that you went somewhere too advanced for you, i did that a couple times. dont go there again til you need to for the story, and ull be fine.
as i stated earlier, have one speed fighter, one heavily armored melee fighter, and one healer. cure is incredibly important especially if you're going to be stealing cuz that gets you clobbered. mp is easy to regen by walking, you shouldnt need to use items for healing once you get cure. make sure you get white magic 1 for every char
as for the rest of the chars, i sent one to places so that he is good for bosses, but i dont have to train him. i have another person getting everything that improves item usage, so that he can use items when i need them to be used. i dont really use the other 1.. still havent used any lp for her so she has like 1.5k. im just focusing on my main three

I have gotten an 83 chain, but all i got were potions. I think i might travel back to... Bhejurbe.. wow i dont know how to spell that. I beat ghis on my first try after leveling a little, so I'm right after that. So I'm gonna go level up in those mines and get gil.
I prob made one of my character attack it not knowing how powerful it was. So I'm past trying to get the sunstone, but I did get murdered by those werewolves once though.
As I have it now, Vaan and Basch will be my armored melee fighters, Balthier will be one speed fighter, and Penelo will be all mage, and I'm thinking of making her a good fighter too. So Ashe and Fran are in between Mage and Speed fighter. I think I will make Ashe the mage becuase she has more MP, but I think its only by 1. And well she fits the stereotypical final fantasy leading girl.

yeah. i got the guide with the game so i looked at the lvl 99 stats for everyone. theyre all about even except for basch has about 2/3 the mp that others have, and about 6k hp instead of 5k. so i decided not to use him, tho ive been thinking mp is pretty easy to get so it might be alright. ashe and penelo have the highest mp, but ashe has higher hp. fran's pretty balanced. i have fran as a speed fighter and vaan as a heavy melee, tho im thinking of replacing him with basch just cuz i love that scar and he reminids me a lot of shinra. i havent used penelo at all, cuz i dont really need her. and i put baltheir as the item user. i guess it doesnt really matter a whole lot which characters you use for what, so long as basch isn't a mage. the guide says to do what you're doing and use everyone, but i reallly dont see the point when i can just powerlevel vaan ashe and fran, then own everything.
don't chain enemies that drop potions. thats pretty much pointless, except for the exp and mp. thoh i think only imperials will do that. i assume this is when u were on dreadnought leviathon. i hate imperials cuz of that reason, so i dont fight many unless i have to cuz theres not much payoff.
the skeles will get ya some gill. also, i believe you're about to head into another desert, and in it are these little tommato things that you can steal/loot some "fresh fruit" (or something like that) that'll sell for like 350. so i spent about 30 mins just killing them all then running away so theyd regenerate and coming back, cuz theres not a whole lot of them. but yeah you'll need a lot of gil soon cuz there's some hard bosses at the end of the desert
