A couple weekends ago I was on AIM and someone IMed me with a link to look at a picture So I clicked and something starts downloading. Before I knew it I had a virus. It shut down Internet Explorer so I can't use it. (Thank god I have mozzila firefox) If anyone has any information please tell me. I've scanned my computer with all kinds of programs numerous times including Norton Anti-Virus.

This is the only reference I found to it: www.computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/20575.htmldoesn't look like he had a solution either. Other than clean wiping and reinstalling everything (which you may have to do...) You might try this - boot from a bootable CD with some virus and spyware scanners on it and do it that way. That would give you the cleanest chance at catching this thing. I found this: trinityhome.org/trk1.1/which is a linux distribution meant to be an emergency toolkit for windows. But haven't tried it. You should probably google around a bit and see if anyone has used it or had issues with it, etc. Not sure what else to recommend. The big issue is once you have it, who knows what it is doing in your system, it could be compromising all your other programs... Oh, the only other thing you might want to try is something like rootkit revealer. A rootkit virus would explain why nothing can find it (it hooks the low level system and basically takes itself off the process list, so it is invisible to anything looking for it). Hope this helps... JLSK

If you have win xp or later (maybe in earlier versions too, not sure), you can restore your computer to an earlier date. That's a good hint from Scott, give it a go. How to: (I might be a bit off with the namings, cause I have Vista, so dont quite know how things are called in xp. but it should be close enough ) * Start * Accessories * System Tools (or Administrative tools) * System Restore * Then you choose to "restore to an earlier date" and then u get a calender and choose a date in which your system was stable and uncompromized. Don't go tooooo far in the past, cause i've experienced that the system doesnt work stably any more then. You might get mysterious messages saying that some dll is missing and stuff. But it should work.
