it means 'own' the o and the p are right next to eachother on the key board, so back in the pc game and instant messaging genesis, somebody probably said i pwn you, instead of own and it stuck. There's a bit of controversy over how it should be pronouced, for the most part, i read it as pown, but then i read jpeg as gee-peg, and gif and Jif (like the peanut butter)

Thanks you guys. You have enlightened me on several levels. Even expressions that I knew have changed over the last 12-13 years (like noob=newbie - thanks OfficialBen) Here I thought I was rather internet savvy, knowing expressions, etc, but obviously I have not kept up with the changes.  |
