According to a recent news report on NPR, the first annual National Rock-Paper-Scissors championship will be held in Las Vegas. The coordinators say that R-P-S is and should be recognized as a sport. I personally think that this is probably the stupidist thing I have ever heard. R-P-S is not a sport. So what does everyone think. Rock-Paper-Scissors, Sport or no Sport.

I don't think RPS is a sport...but poker? It definitely takes skill to play! Just like in Chess, you have to anticipate someone's next move and plan out different scenarios in your head. Of course this is coming from someone who's not very good at poker

although both prs and poker deal alot with luck, poker deffinetly takes skiil to play. a crapy poker player can only win with a good hand, a good poker player can win with reading peopls tells and expressions, bluffing, finding the best hand carefully, knowing when they can and cant win ect. rps is totaly randome, yeah you can go with what statistically will happen next but its all a guessing game. its like putting tic tac toe as a sport! anyone wha has seen that movie with the kid who shuts down the super computer from blowing up the world by making it play tic tac toe agains its self can tell you that!!!! oh and theres this, straight from the dictionary sport P Pronunciation Key (spôrt, sprt) n. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. A particular form of this activity. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.

RPS is so not a sport... c'mon! Everybody can play RPS... but not everybody can play ... lets say poker, or hockey... I qualify sport as something you need to practice to get better at. Nobody can practice RPS A random piece of boring information: RPS in Swedish is "Sten, Sax, Påse" with means "Rock, Scissor, Bag"

LOL RPS Championships! Geek Olympics is right. Is this before or after the Klingon Spelling Bee? I don't know what language this is in, maybe NctrnlBst as our resident Hawaiian can conferm this, but I hear that in Hawaii, they call it "Jun Ken Po".

Pretty soon we're going to have the most ridiculous sports in the olympics. Karaoke. Origami. Speed-Text Messaging [There have actually been Speed TM competitions]...
Whatever happened to... physical activity?

I thought nctr (if u don't mind me abbreviating) was joking I would consider considering it a sport if both rps'ers needed to run a mile or 2 towards each other at full speed and just before impact, they have to reveal their hand. That would be kinda sporty; but just like that? nah. on a side note: mental activity (as opposed to only phisical) can also be counted into sports imo. thinking sports. That's why i could see a sport in origami. It takes some insight too, plus the fingers and hands do some physical movements too oh well, i guess peeps can spend their time however they like.

Make sure you get yourself 10% off the deal. I'm in a generous mood And when X-RPS gets too casual, we could have the two contestants jump from two different airplanes and meet each other mid-air, for an exciting battle of XXX-RPS² To The Max Alfa Edition Extreme Overdrive. (lol that reminds me: RPS sport.. it would be like those japanese cartoons (anime), they can make the most boring or casual stuff, exciting and dangerous Like eg. Yu-gi-oh! (a card game) or Hikaru No Go (japanese chess) anyways..)
