well this sunday I go up to boston and leave florida, its only for school though so my family is still down here. anyways, just thought I would open a thread for the bostonians (and from around the new england area in general) who hold it down on the jay and jack boards.
plus I have no idea what to do in the city except go to baseball games

i think when I took a tour of my school they said there were 50 colleges, its crazy our book store shares the harvard medical school book store so there are art supplies in one aisle and medical supplies in the other

I'm a lifelong Mass guy. Went to school in Boston, too.
"plus I have no idea what to do in the city except go to baseball games"
If you're going to MassArt for film and video, you should know Boston has an incredible film community. There's the MFA (right near MassArt), they do interesting film series all the time. Not to mention the art inside. There's the Coolidge Corner theater in Brookline--one of the best. It's just a short T ride away.
Oh, yeah. Get used to calling the subway "the T." If you call it "the subway," people will look at you funny.
Also, there's the Brattle Theater in Cambridge. Always fantastic movies there, and usually double features. Also the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge.
You won't run out of stuff to do, because you have all of Boston and Brookline and Cambridge to hang out in. There are movie theaters everywhere, great bars and cafes all over the place, the area near Fenway is fun, the Allston and Brighton neighborhoods are choked with college kids from end to end. Boston's a great walking-around city, too--most of the fun is getting your friends together, walking someplace and doing something stupid.

I've always worn my Sox hat at least part of the time when I've visited NY. I usually get ignored. Either Yankees fans are being nice, ignoring me coldly, or thinking: "Pff. Tourist." Most NYers (Manhattanites, anyway) are too busy worrying about their overpriced rent and dodging runaway cabs to care about one guy with a Red Sox hat. Wear a Yankees hat in Boston, though, at a certain time of the year (Sept-Oct) and you get lousy service at restaurants. Never ridden the Swan Boats...but I have sat on the bronze Make Way For Ducklings statues in the Public Garden.
