I thought it might be fun to see what is making headlines around the world. How 'bout those alligators in Florida?!!!!!? Three people have been killed in the last week. When they caught a suspect gator and checked inside, it had two human arms . . . and they weren't the arms from the jogger who was eaten! I guess this is unusual because there have only been about 50 people killed by alligators in Florida in the last 50 or 60 years. My brother lives in Florida. There are always stories about people's pets being taken, and there are signs in the parks saying "Don't walk your dog here. Gator Hazard." The week I went to visit him a Standard Poodle got eaten right off the end of the leash.

Annie, I know all about those gators... I live in central Florida...and alligators are the reason I have an irrational fear of swimming in fresh water!

I talked to my sister-in-law in Florida yesterday. She and my brother are allowing my 9 year-old niece to compete in a triathalon for kids. Part of it is a swim in a lake with alligators! What???!!!!
