Here are some shots of St. Bernard Parish which is about 5 minutes from New Orleans. (Where I grew up) My Mother and Brothers have lost everything. I thought I would share some images that were taken recently. About 80,000 people used to live here and since katrina it is basically a ghost town. Everyone in the US has been so generous but please don't forget there is still so much work to be done. Please try to give, to the Red Cross or other charities, if you can. Thanks.

Wow, those are powerful anywaysding. My family has sent in $150 dollers since the tragedy and I was concidering going down next time I have a chance. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom and siblings. I have a lot of family there too, and it's been a really hard time. I must say, I really respect you for sharing these images with us. They're needed now more than ever since the news coverage and controversy with FEMA is dying down. People need to know it's still an issue.

Thanks for giving. Getting these communities back on their feet again will be a challenge. Nobody wants to go back to these communities until they know what the government is going to do about the levee system.

Thanks, man. I have a good friend who lives on Baronne st. in New Orleans and he's been lucky housewise but I've tried to help as much as I can with donations and stuff too.

I'm going again this weekend. It's such a bummer to think about. I lost all of my family pictures. We were able to save some of them but all have water damage. One thing the pictures can't show is the smell. It's a mix between swamp mud and Chemicals (from the oil spill by the local refinery). It's kind of scary because they're letting people in (St. Bernard Parish) to clean up but your car is decontaminated when you leave the parish.
How Bad Did Baronne get it? I had a friend who rode the Storm out at Pat O'Briens.

Dunno. I'm trying to get him to email me some photos to post on another forum - if he does, I'll let you know.
ps. sorry about the family photos; funnily enough because of Katrina, my brother and I have started a massive project of digitizing *all* our photos to create an online database of them all. It's going to take awhile; there are literally thousands..

Yeah, it must be really tough...my sister lost everything she owned in a fire this past summer, including her cat.
