I'm surprised no one has posted a Winter Olympics thread yet. I LOVE the Olympics! I will say that on Wednesday, the Olympics will lose out to Lost, though. Our American skiers couldn't get the job done in the Men's downhill. Kind of disappointing, but hey. If you mess around with changing skis at the last minute, what do you expect? Also, the time difference between 1st and 10th places is so miniscule. I was glad to see a Swiss guy take a medal home, esp. after they showed how much the Swiss ski program was hurting financially. They really needed it. Congrats to you, Ras, on the Frenchman winning. Has anyone seen the cross country skiing? Wow! It's been really exciting this time. I don't know how those people can keep up that pace for an hour and a half. The one Norweigan who fell down at the start and came back from last place to win silver is an inspiration.

Yeah, that was kind of a surprise that they didn't place better, esp. after the commentators went on and on about how the new scoring system HAD to take that kind of thing into account. Weird. I do think the Russians were the best so far, though, at least artisically. Honestly, I can't tell the different jumps and things apart. It's like the old saying, "I may not know Art, but I know what I like."

Hey, Matt. I guess our two women's hockey teams are the ones to beat this year.

Do you think the Luge-ers ever get that feeling that they are being pulled through "the tunnel" after one dies? I know if I got on a luge I would be pulled through the tunnel toward the light for real!

I like the skeleton, luge, bobsleigh and ski-jump. They're so nuts. Britain won't get any medals since crashing cars in the snow, attacking someone with hundreds of snowballs and filming it on a camera-phone, or falling down in a comical manner are, as of yet, not winter olympic events.

Ha. Ha. Ski-jumping ROCKS! Today on NBC's morning show, the host, Katy Couric was going to go off a ski jump live. "That I gotta see," I thought. "She is absolutely crazy brave to attempt that. She is going to kill or cripple herself." As it turns out she went over a little bump, hit the air, and fell down. Blah!
Watching another anchor and the weatherman do the 2 man luge was MUCH better. They screamed all the way down until they crashed. Awesome!

Yeah, makes one realize how dangerous these sports can be.
I've been watching some Curling on USA network. I would like to try that game. Looks like fun. I don't really understand much about it, but hey, it still looks like fun.

Olympics rule! Too bad the Dutch guys fell on the Men's Team Pursuit with Speed Skating. That sucks. Sven Kramer, a 19-year old superhero, stepped on one of those red blocks. But further on, Holland kicks your ass with speed skating! Except on the 500 metres. You guys were not that good on the team pursuit yesterday though...

I know. Didn't even make the finals. I really like to watch speedskating. Eric Heiden is one of my all time favorite athletes. Wonder what he is doing now? There is a great Dutch skating history, the Silver Skates and all that. Do they have you all try speedskating in school or anything?

I NEVER watched the olympics, but I've been addicted this year. My friend's family is from Torino, so it's cool to year firsthand about the city and all because they call every night talking about the Olympics. So maybe that's why I find it so fascinating this year.
