Well, technically he is only going to be the producer, at least from what I heard.
Still, I'm definitely going to see it. If they all hadn't gotten into a p***ing match in the first place, we'd probably have the movies by no later than 2009.

I don't understand the two movies thing...The Hobbit is a short enough book to fit into one movie, if you cut out some of the least important stuff. But hey, it all goes down to that green stuff with these major film companies. Course, with the strike going on, we already figured that out.

I completely agree with you, leppysam. I was confused when I heard that The Hobbit would be broken up into two films. While I love The Hobbit...there's only so much that can be dragged out to accomplish that length in time for film. It seems money makes the entertainment world go 'round. It's a sin that Peter Jackson will only be acting as producer... I was hoping to see him in the director's chair once more. Until more news is released - a gal can keep hoping!

Well, first off, they might have made the movies relatively short, unlike the LotR movies. Also, I do think there is enough there for two movies, to be honest.
Whatever. I'll watch it. I won't be as excited if Jackson was the director though. Still, as long as he is somewhat connected to the film, I am sure the awesomeness that seeps out of his pores will leak onto the film, making it awesome as well.

Yeah, I wonder where they will put the split. Because nothing really exciting happens, unless you count that forest and Beorn. I can't imagine them not getting Peter Jackson. O, I heard on an interview or read somewhere a long time ago (like, right after the LotR movies) that the actors would be playing their ancestors. i.e. Elijah Wood= Bilbo, John Rhys Davies= Gloin... Any news of that?

I haven't heard anything, but honestly, I doubt it, mainly because everyone sees EW and JRD as those characters.
At least, I do.
