I don't subscribe to cable or satellite, and I was using Itunes to get Battlestar. I think the fault rests on NBC because they wanted to charge somewhere in the neighborhood from $2 to $5 an episode. If they charge $5 per episode, Heroes would cost about $115.00 for the season! I guess there is still time for the to work out the contract so hopefully it get resolved.

That stinks! Last year NBC came in really badly in my dorm room, so I just watched all the episodes on the season pass that my family had. I hope I get better reception this year if it's going to be like that. I can't go without watching The Office!

I heard theyare going to that stupid amazon tv thing because you can access te same show on five computers with itunes. Those cheap idiots just want more money! Plus, why would you leave a trusty system for somthing that has never been used before?
This sucks because I was really considering NBC to be the only sane cchannel on tv.

Those cheap idiots just want more money! I know right. If I were a Nielsen viewer, I would make it a point not to watch their network just to stick it to their greediness. Charge fairly, and I'm willing to view fairly.

I saw something that Steve Jobs said in the paper the other day. It was something like how he doesn't think anyone would pay more than what iTunes already has them for, because you can watch them for free on TV.

You I do for the most part aggree with Steve. But trust me, ifyou take it away from itunes, a trusted source, people will find other ways to download the shows... Its the internet, and its a big world. People will always find a way.
Alot of people don't have time always to see the shows they want so they Tvo it. Tvo i s also great because it skips the ads. Do you know what NBC does? To make sure that you see the ads, they will start the ads 30 seconds later/early so the tvo will stop reocrding the show and record the ads. I think NBC is acting stupid. Take away peoples ability to use itunes, and tvo....well.....its called torrents.
TV producers need to join the 21st centory, and drop thier poloicies they've had since the 40s.

To be fair, most of the networks have odd start and end times to their shows. Part of the idea (along with messing with Tivo's) is if Prison Break runs 5 minutes long and you miss the start to Heroes, you may just stay on Fox and watch 24 instead.
The reasons that NBC gave as to why it is not renewing with Itunes is that it wanted a flexiable rate schedule and better priracy protection. The press release said something to the effect of the average Ipod has a significant amount of illegal material. I find this funny for 2 reasons: 1. most of the media on my Ipod is legal and paid for. I have maybe 2 CD's that I "borrowed" from my brother and put it on mine. I think it balances out because I have at least 2 CD's that I can't rip to Itunes. The second reason that this statement makes me laugh is: does this "illegal material" that they say is on the average ipod prirated from Itunes? I know that I have nothing I haven't paid for from Itunes on my Ipod, as well as anyone else I know. I don't think people are prirating from Itunes (video wise) because its a lower video quailty than what you can get elsewhere. Also, there will be nothing the will be 100% copy proof, and the harder they make it for consumers the more angry they will become and will drive them to be prirates. If I can get BSG at a reasonable rate, I may just go to bit torrent.
I don't think ABC will pull anything. At least I hope they won't. I think it will depend on how other digital distribution channels hold up to Itunes.
I hope NBC sells these shows on it HULU.com network for $5 an episode and fails. Nothing would make me happier.

The illegal content on iPods is most likely stuff that was unobtainable through iTunes. I know I illegally downloaded episodes of Veronica Mars to catch up before they were available for download. If they had been I would have downloaded the episode legally. If they had cost $5 per episode however, that would have set me back $40... which I didn't have. I would have had to result to illegal means anyway, just to catch up and consume the advertisements when the next new episode aired.
Also, Emily is completely right. The way television makes money needs to move forward into this century. They can make more money off of downloads and DVD sales than they ever could have before, but the way advertisements run still needs to change. I'm in the minority, and I don't mind watching a few advertisements in the knowledge that it is how I am paying, and nothing can be free in our society. But understandably others are pulling away, and product placements will likely need to become more prevalent. Networks need to get with that program.
...then people can make a stink about that. Still, I think that NBC doesn't realize what a fantastic thing they had going with iTunes. They'll be sorry when most of the illegal content on iPods is from their network.
