At the very end when they were showing the video from Coney Island. You could see a pretty big splash out in the water. None of my friends saw it, but I know I wasn't imagining things!!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield#Plot_summary"The final scene returns to footage from the month before, in which Rob and Beth enjoy a date at Coney Island, happy and carefree, while in the distance something falls out of the sky and splashes into the water, unnoticed. " A couple of people have put this part on Youtube, but it keeps getting taken off. d**n copyrights..

I thought the movie did a fine job of delivering on the hype. I thought it was superb.
I felt genuine terror. I never feel genuine terror. It was nice.
I thought there was definitely some stuff that could have been executed better, but all in all, I'm going to rate it 96 points out of 99, which is pretty darn high for me.
For the record: Hud = Teh man

Saw Cloverfield again today, and saw the thing fall into the ocean, its on the right side of the screen.
also many have seen the Dharma logo flash quick at the start of the film when the government "cloverfield" footage message is playing, I'm 80 percent positive I saw it too but it's so so fast that it's hard to say for certain, there was also graffiti shown prominently that was LO, that's the only other lost type stuff I could find besides the numbers, and if anyone care my spoiler free review below.
The best thing about the movie Transformers was the trailer for the mysterious 1-18-08. Everybody was speculating on what it could be. Everything from Voltron to the show Lost was discussed and over the months leading up to this film people's expectations grew higher as to how great this movie should be.
The truth is that the movie is really just as great as the trailer. What you see in the trailer is what your going to get in the movie except your gonna see a whole lot more of it. Now for most trailers this would be an insult to the film but the trailer for "Cloverfield" is not most trailers, and in my opinion the mysterious trailer that had everyone talking about it instead of the movie they came to see is one of the most unique and best trailers of recent time.
There were complaints from audience members when the credits came up and to this I couldn't be more shocked. What more was the movie suppose to do that we already knew from the trailer it would do? I won't get into plot or characters but I will say that this is one of the most stressful times I've had watching a film, and that I believe the bar for horror films has been raised a level. This is the horror film that I have been waiting for for years.
Unlike all the horror films of late that use graphic violence and gore to get you to feel something, "Cloverfield" uses great storytelling and creates a unsettling atmosphere. If I would compare this film to any other horror film it wouldn't be a huge monster movie it would be "Don't look now" a film that is so uncomfortable to watch that you feel like your own life may be at risk, a film so creepy that it transcendsjust being a movie and becomes unsafe. This is a truly terrifying experience that gives us a glimpse in what the world could be like by another huge attack be it by a terrorist or a crazy ass monster.
This is what Godzilla should have been and what every horror film in the future should set out to do. MAKE US FEEL SCARED.

We agreed that Marlena exploded behind the curtain. which is friggin awesome. but we also wondered did the other girl (Lily) die? because I never saw what happened to her helicopter but my friend is convinced that he saw it explode.

My friends and I were talking about it and thought that she inflated and exploded (at least thats what it looked like). Also we discussed the little joke they threw in the movie, when they are in the electronics store he can see on the TVs 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Sponge Bob and King Kon. Which basically makes joke to New York being destroyed, a monster from the sea and the talking fish news reporter (in the ocean).
And for a sequel I am not sure if I would want one. But if they are I hope they put in the background of Cloverfield someone else with a camera and they cross paths.

about Marlena: To us it looked like uh... something came out of her and they shot it, and killed her too. Also, yeah, Hud is the best. His best line was when they were crossing over to Beth's apartment on the roof. "I'll uh, I'll document it." ;D
