sorry if someone already started a thread like this, but i didnt see one. im surprised dharmashark hasnt made one. so who here has listened to icky thump, the newest album by the white stripes? i thought it was really good. not the best, but close. i think my favorite might be elephant, but theyre all great, so im not sure. so post here to say if youve heard it, you want to get it, and if you like it or not.

It's freakin' awesome. "Conquest" makes my brain explode every time. I think it's my favorite, along with "Rag and Bone" and "Little Cream Soda" and "Catch Hell Blues" and, oh em gee, all of them! I can't say which album is the best... I loved the first one. But Icky Thump is so, so, good... It takes stuff from all over the place, it's got those raw, monstrous blues riffs, it's got trumpets, slide guitar, bagpipes, whammy pedal trigger happiness, bagpipes backwards, a lot of "Oh wells", crazy vocals, crazy banter, crazy guitar and is it just me, or is Meg playing a little more?
Did you guys pre-order it? Cause they gave a couple extra tracks if you did. "Baby Brother" and "Tennessee Border (Live)"... "Baby Brother" has hilarious lyrics.
Anyways. I love it. COOOAAAOOONQUEEEST! ;D

I agree that it's good but not the best. I think my favorite album was Elephant, that is what really got me tuned into them. My favorite tracks on Icky Thump are "Rag and Bone, "Tennessee Border", and "Prickly Thorn, But Sweetly Worn."
