im one of the biggest fans of Qt and robert rodriguez, i was excited when Qt dwas guest director in sin city, but when i heard about grindhouse, i was peeing myself.
I live in qatar so it hasent come out here yet, but i read online that its been a bit of a flop, has anyone seen it? Is it really that bad?

In terms of money, it didn't make all that much, but in terms of reviews, I have heard pretty much nothing but great reviews for this film. I wanted to see it so bad, but our theater dumped it after two weeks, so I gotta wait for the dvd.

I still wanna go see it because I have a weakness for zombie movies and it has a Lost actor we don't enough of, Naveen Andrews. Tarentino is one of my favorite directors and Rodriguez has a good sense of humor even if some of his movies aren't that great.

My one problem is that they will release it as two seperate films on DVD, which would mean I would have to rent two movies. Oh well, it will probably be worth it.

There are cool things about both.
Planet Terror is almost a parady of the grindhouse films of the 70's. B-list actors, over the top violence and blood, and unbelievable plot. Rodriquez does some cool things post production (color saturation and the film reel melts). Its a fun movie because of all of these things.
Death Proof is a Tarintino movie all the way. There is a lot of dialouge in two good chunks, which makes a 3+ hour movie seem much longer. There really isn't a ton of violence or blood, definitly not as much as Planet Terror. Tarintino does a few things with the editing that are pretty cool and they are a bt more subtle that Planet Terror. And after following Planet Terror, it seems like a let down. It's one of the movies that once you think it over for a few days, you like it better.
They are 2 different styles, one more fun and over the top and the other more serious film.
