I heard of this topic on a movie podcast I listen to (www.filmspotting.net) and I thought I would throw it out here. Imagine all movies released during the 80's were going to be destroyed - except for five. You are in charge of picking those five! Now most people have one or two favorites, so you don't have to pick five - just be able to defend your choice(s). Maybe we can come up with a joint top 5, or pick a bunch and vote. My picks so far are:
1. The Princess Bride - smartest fairy tale ever - good for the whole family! 2. Broadcast News - funny and still relevant. 3. Stripes - yeah, it is a classic and it still makes me cry from laughing so hard! 4. Back to the Future - the one most people screamed "How could you leave this off" on the original podcast. 5. War Games - one of the best examples of fears-comes-to-life I have ever seen, and still relevant.
I'm sure it won't be that hard!
(Updated to include some others remembered but I forgot!)

Ford Fairlane - the Rock`n´Roll detective (Andrew Dice Clay at his very peak) War Games- Tic-tac-toe-saving the world Back to the Future - One of the funniest man there were + one of the smallest(Fox)
I tend to come up with 90s movies, cause they were way better.
Nice "Survey"

) War Games- Tic-tac-toe-saving the world "Would you like to play a game" Oh yes - my kids would love this one in a few years! In the original survey, one of the criteria someone used is what would you like to be able to show your kids (or younger siblings for those who don't have children!) in the future.

In the original survey, one of the criteria someone used is what would you like to be able to show your kids (or younger siblings for those who don't have children!) in the future. Perhaps Ford Fairlane not too early on then Rather explicit dialogues of Mr Dice-Clay (" How would you define Vagina?) A film they definetly should see though was Lord of the flies, shows kids how hard being "responsible adults" is and will def. feel familiar to "Lostkids" Cheers oLO

Back to the Future The Man with Two Brains Big Trouble in Little China The Last Star Fighter The Breakfast Club You had to have grown up through the 80s to get it. Gremlins comes in at no. 6 for me.

1. The Last Starfighter - LOVE that movie!! 2. The Princess Bride - I'm sure there is no debate here... 3. Goonies!!!!! - one of the best kids action/adventure movies ever made! 4. Back to the Future 5. Animals are Beautiful People. - Ok, it's actualy 1978, but close enough, BEST movie! my sister and I wore out our tape of it growing up. Now I have to DVD, it's one of those movies that you make all your friends watch. (great movie for drinking with a bunch of friends)
