Ok, this might be a bit on the heavy side, but to anyone who's read it, Kudos. I am getting through it right now, and keep thinking it's gonna be popping up on Lost at some point as a book on somebody's shelf.
Essentially, it is a thesis on the beauty of chance, and the non-existance of a sentient creator. It refutes the arguement that we must have a purpose, and that our presence in the universe proves the God exists.
The author further argues that we can only give purpose to something such as our existance using hindsight - not foresight as a designer would.
If God could be likened to a watchmaker, then natural evolution is a blind watchmaker; our existance is purely a random probability reached through millions of years of evolution.
Cheers,
Paul C

Wow. Deep. Hey, maybe it will be on next week, with Locke's flashback, since he believes in destiny and purpose. Hmm. I'll have to check this out, even though I am a christian.

Yup, worthy of a read, as it doesn't put down anyone's beliefs, but postulates an interesting idea - at least, that's how I read it.
