Hmm.. Maybe Ian McKellen. YES!!! Ian McKellen can do no wrong. Exalt! I also love Ralph Fiennes. (The only wrong he did was Maid In Manhattan *shudder*)

The US is definately not the only place where racism exists. You hear about it more than you think. In Israel, Palastine, Persia, civil-war Africa...its bad. But, unfortunately, thats the world we live in. It would be great to see more countries make the progress the US has made in fighting racism, segregation, and sexism. A good movie to see that shows an extreme case of rasicm between Tutsis refugees and their struggle against the Hutu militia which also stars "Crash"'s Don Cheadle. BTW, Casey I think thats a better example of how its been portrayed in film in recent memory.

I thought I put the title in it the post...drat. Thank you so much. You deserve an exalt for your films!!! Perhaps you can consider one of this issues to inspire you to do a documentary! I'd see it! I would join you on your fight to save the Internet, but I am so 'puter stupid. I do plan to learn more though! There is so much going on in the world and I love how film and Cheadle's performance portrayed that fear and violence in that film. Its awesome how film does that, exposes the many ills and problems of the world. Its very activist and arty simultaneously. I really thought Brokeback Mountain was gunna take best picture with all the attention it got but I guess not. I would have like one of the period pieces to have won like Goodnight and Good Luck. DARN!

I thought good night and good luck was amazing! even though it was a long shot I was hoping it would triumph over the tolerance pieces in the running and the fight to save the internet, not going to good. the house voted yes on the companies to limit activity and the senate is reviewing it (for those who dont know, the companies like AT&T & Bellsouth want to select what people see on the internet by what sites pay them more money, this means the vast world of information we know in the internet will be taken apart and people like jay and jack and their podcast wont survive on the internet, because they dont have millions of dollars to get the companies to show their sites, so if congress allows them to do this, that means no more podcasts, no more myspace, no more anything thats cool on the internet. if you want to try and help you can go to www.savetheinternet.com to find out more...sorry about this post, it is just so backwards to do this, they didnt invent the internet, why do they think they can run it?)

Thats the thing. CAN they ruin it? The Internet is a very tricky thing to regulate and my poor technologically challenged mind can hardly grasps its basic uses. I don't think Congress would pass this legislation. The US is just a thread contributing to cyberspace and the use of the Internet is too widespread to picked apart just here. The Internet is a global thing. No corperation is THAT powerful. Heh...I think the headquaters for AT&T are here in San Antonio.

I think what your talking about is Congress maybe trying to more strictly regulate its domestic use. I guess. I heard a while back, some schools were trying to ban the students use of MySpace on college campuses...said it used too much bandwith. Whatever! I agree that the students pay for the use of the schools resources with ever increasing tuition rates! And with the heightened levels of child predators and online solicitor pervs lurking the net maybe that is one of their motivations as well. I think the US is trying to find a way to tax the Internet as a way to generate revenue. Sites like eBay are big business and perhaps the government it trying to get a piece of the pie. If there's a way to do this, perhaps Congress will do it. Right now, you don't pay a tax for online purchases so I think they maybe doing something about that...in the United States though. They don't have the jurisdiction to implement this for the world though. I guess those companies like AT&T and Bell South (I actally think they mergered) are trying to use their telecommunications ability to try and regulate interstate commerce which is a power Congress has, but only in the U.S.

I hope its just about that because if they do try and muscle out the little guy, regular people wont be able to surve on the internet, I know these people who made a movie and brought it to film festivals and didnt get any distribution, but because they were able to reach people with their video podcast they got myspace to have a filmmakers section, and they are working on something with the sundance channel, without access to people with the internet, this filmmaker, musician, artist, etc. revolution going on will die because their voices wont be heard.

I hear ya brotha! Its how bands like the Arctic Monkey's became so big so fast, their weapon of choice: the Internet. The Internet allows people so many ways to benefit from it mainly because of its broad scope. However, finding a way to regulate this sounds complicated. I guess since the Internet is so valuable as a marketing tool, Congress may consider that as "regulating interstate commerce", I dunno if it would hinder it, which is against the law...I think. How did we get to this...oh..my fault. I mentioned it. We've gone from racism to regulating the Internet...haha. I think we should move this discussion to the appropriate thread ""SAVE THE INTERNET"" before we get smited. But good thoughts! You get another EXALT!
