When someone says something nice on the forum, you can exalt him or her. Then you get one karma point. You can also smite someone when they say something you don't like. When Jay and Jack just started, someone smited Jack (totally uncool to smite, from what I understand) so his karma was -1. Then he said to Jay 'Can you make my karma go to -5000' and Jay said 'Yeah' so he did. Ralph felt sorry for Jack and exalted him. His karma was then -4999. People stayed up all night from that moment to get Jack back to zero. Now, Jack has a karma from over + 5000, and so does Jay. Some people exalt Jack every hour, some people Jay. That is the war that's going on. It's ripping up family's, life's are destroyed, all because of karma. I can't right now, but when I can, I'll exalt you (I've just exalted Jack, so I can't for an hour). Hoped this helped, and I hoped I told it right.

Know what I don't get about karma? When people say they are exalting +16 or +(insert obscenely high number here), does that mean they really intend to exalt that person for the next 16 or whatever hours... Or is that just an expression?
I've been here for not quite a month now, but I still can't figure it out. This seemed like a good thread to reveal my cluelessness in.

No, it means they bumped their karma up to that. Like when I exalt you here in a little bit, I will go:
Exalt SK +4!
See?

No, it means they bumped their karma up to that. Like when I exalt you here in a little bit, I will go: Exalt SK +4! Did you forget to exalt her or did SK got smited? Cause she's still (or again?) at a karma of 3. No lesson learned yet.
Usually people anounce the number to which they exalted someone only after they actually did it. If they wanna announce it in advance - which happens - they just say "Exalt you later" or "Exalt is upcoming.".
