I hope this is the right place for this post - I figure the book must be part of the "expierence" doo-doo-doo-doo
I'm listening to it on iTunes and so far I love all the names that are the same and things (Widmore, etc.) But the main point right now is more than a bad twin but a doppleganger. Anyone else reading/listening yet?

So far there are lots of fun things in the book, (I'm on chapter 14), and lots of little things I'm sure will come to be very important. But this one I wanted to share. There comes a point where a guy named "Moth" dies. He lives on an island (populated - not lost )and this quote comes from the narrator. (forgive my spelling) Maybe death was even more unsettling on an island. Maybe it seemed like an obsence visitor from the world beyond. An uncooth guest that carried not just a single tragedy but the threat of some horrible contagen.

I like this quote too since it relates to something I've been relating to the show since the beginning (whether or not I'm right or wrong ) Remeber Lord of the Flies...........It's about how thin the line is between survival of the fittest and survival of the cruelest, winners sometimes can't afford to be decent

Need help.... I don't know how you tell if a site is a real site or a fan site. In the book there is a city mentioned that I can't find as real - Luna California - There is also a nudist colony that is mentioned as in this city. So I decided to try for a website the url is www.theheliosfoundation.orgIt comes up with the address as in the book and everything, but I don't know if this is a fan site yet. I tried the phone number but it just rang and rang. Any help would be much appreciated.

All I could find out about theheliosfoundation.org is:
1)built using Yahoo site builder (makes it suspicious, to me) 2)the domain is registered to someone in Iowa 3)it was registered late last month (April 2006)

Also about Helios, I just got to that part of the book and remembered that Helios is another reference to Greek mythology. He was the god of the sun, and here is something that came up on google in regards to his symbols (might mean something later?):
"His attributes are the whip and the globe, and his sacred animals were the rooster and the eagle. Helios sees and knows all, and was called upon by witnesses."

I appreciate the info . Are you reading a hard copy of the book, or doing the iTunes thing like I am?

I was reading it, stayed up late last night and finished it. I won't spoil it for anyone by say ing I feel bad for Sawyer not getting to read the last 10 pages as that is where most of the story is explained. Didn't Hurley read the manuscript too, though? If only they talked to each other, Sawyer could get the lowdown from Hurley.

On iTunes you get the jungle whispers saying the chapter number, and occasionally (well it's only occasionally as far as I can tell) you can hear they are saying something other than just the chapter number - like on the show. I can't make out what they are saying, but I was wondering if there was anything like that hidden where the new chapter number was printed.

nope, nothing like that in the hard copy, just normal straightforward chapter breaks.

I just got the book and started reading - but I noticed it's dedicated to Cindy - the missing flight attendant from the tail section.
