Interesting flash in the Season 4 trailer...

My sister had noticed this. I went in and looked more closely and I agree.

So much emphasis on the rocking chair in this new find815 game. There is a rocking chair that rocks when Jacob gets upset, but Jacob is in the non-rocking chair.

Anyway, the reason I am spoilering the next part is because it is from the current trailer being shown for S4.

There is a very fast flash of Christian sitting down.

Take a look below - it sure looks like Christian is in a rocking chair. The wall in the background sure looks a lot like the shack/cottage wall. The table to Christian's left looks a lot like the table in the cottage.




I'm not necessarily saying Jacob is Christian aka Smokey, but it could be... I included the shot of Jacob in the top left for reference.

Here is a thought. What if Ben has control or influence over smokey - or as I just put into another theory thread, Jacob is a trapped sub-part of the smoke monster that Ben can somewhat control. We've already seen what is likely the smoke monster taking on Christian's form on the island...

(the reason the lower left image of christian is so blurry and messed up is that I tried to reconstruct it from video that was a bit blurry and from a coupld sources, but this is a fairly good cleaned up representation of the frame from the current S4 trailer.)

Which s4 trailer are you talking about, I've totally missed this?

I think most trailers on abc.com for S4 have this in the middle of a long series of quick flashes.

update: you can see it here: youtube.com/watch?v=wZ_lvQEsJ0c it is about at 1:03 in the playback, but it is really dark because the video quality is hoorible. The abc.com ones are much cleared, but also smaller in size.

Even if Jacob isn't Christian, one has to ask, how could it come about that Christian would be shown in a rocking chair in the cottage?

My personal theory (more spelled out in the theories section) is that Jacob is a trapped mini-smoke monster and thus can take on forms like the big one can. It just is in a weakened state, so it cannot sustain the form long enough to be seen - at least by more than one person (since I'm theorizing that half of how it is seen is tied to the psychic/mind connecting nature of the smoke monster). Anyway, I'm wondering if perhaps Locke brings Jack to the cottage in an attempt to convince him to stay on the island, and Jacob manifests as Christian to Jack... heh - well maybe, maybe not - but I'm curious the context in which we will see Christian in the new season.

A question
(I'm not spoiler protecting, because this is not based on any spoilers)

If Ben, Locke, Jacob or Christian are smokey (or a mini-smokey) or have control over smokey, why not use that power to prevent Jack/Naomi from contacting the boat?

My theory on smokey is that there are two opposite powers on the island. The one that we usually see/hear. The one that killed the pilot and Eko. The one that scanned Juliet and was repelled by the sonic fence.

The other one is the white light that Locke was drawn to.
