What does through the looking glass mean?

through the looking glass is the name of the season finale of lost. it was also the name of the sequel to alice in wonderland (book, not movie) the plot summaries and such can be found here,

but the thing i found interesting is this

It would explain the spoiler and make the reference to Through the Looking Glass.

Also, I always saw the title meaning seeing into the future, or seeing whats ahead.
