the producers have said that we will find out in 'not in portland' how long a certain other has been on the island, and the date she arrived on the island is really significant, not only to the outside world but to the people on the island and our lostaways, in 'not in portland' we find out that juliet has been on the island for 3 years, 2 months and 23 days. which in the tv series time because remember they are still in 2004 on the show, juliet came to the island on september the 11th. interesting ? how this fits in with the show i don't know but i hope we find out

If i counted correctly then going from September 11th, 2001 and counting 3 years, 2 months and 23 days leaves us at Decemeber 4th, 2004. So this must mean that the "Not in Portland" episode takes place on December 4th, 2004. recall: that in the episode "The Glass Ballerina", we found out that the current date on the island was November 29th, 2004. So that then means that only 5 days have passed in between episode 2 and episode 7 of season 3. interesting find

yer its v.reliable i've been getting spoilers from there for a long time and they've all happened, and that would make sense i think, from episode 2 to 7, 5 days - 5 episodes.

yer its v.reliable i've been getting spoilers from there for a long time and they've all happened, and that would make sense i think, from episode 2 to 7, 5 days - 5 episodes. yeah i guess it it does make sense...but just as a reminder, not every episode is equivalent to 1 day...if my memory serves me correctly, season one had 24 episodes in it, but on the island it was day 40 (or around some number like 40) oh and i don't know either where the writers are going with this revelation that Juliet came to the island on 9/11 but maybe the writers are trying to convey the fact that the island has a bigger connection to the outside world then we think. Remember how the writers said that we should try to remember a big event that happened in December 2004 and how we all think it was the tsunami and how it might be coming to the island. Well I read in another thread a theory that someone had about the tsunami. It basically said that maybe the tsunami isn’t going to hit the island, but was caused by the island (when Desmond turned the fail-safe key). Now I am not saying that the island caused the 9/11 events, but this date must be significant to the island in some way if the writers would go far enough as to put it into the show.

I'm not sure how I feel about direct correlations to real life tragic events involving thousands of innocent lives lost.. If they tie in the tsunami or the 9/11 tragedy I hope they do it with a very delicate touch. There are still a lot of people in the world still hurting from these events. I have a lot of respect from the writers so I expect it will be done with taste.. I can only speak for myself here but I like this show as an escape from reality. JMO

I really hope they don't say that the tsunami or 9/11 was caused by the island. We all know what what caused those tragic events and it would be wrong to bring them in to LOST.

oh I totally agree. If they decide to tie in the tsunami or 9/11 they are going to have to be careful how they do it. I was thinking about why it would be significant that Juliet came to the island on 9/11. Maybe (now this is a terrible thought) Hanso or Widmore (or whoever brought Juliet to the island in the first place) wanted to erase all trace of her in the outside world so they set it up to look like she died on 9/11 during the attacks. That is a really terrible thought though, that someone knew it was going to happen and didn’t say or do anything.
