not sure if it's THE Jacob but... (this is from wikipedia's LOSTpedia: www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Jacob_Vanderfield) There's even a pic on the link of him. He could be the Patchy but he is not Andrew Divoff, who played Patchy last ep. That's for sure. Jacob Vanderfield is a member of the Board of Directors on the Hanso Foundation.
He was sentenced to four years for taking bribes from a Chinese cigarette smuggling syndicate. He served only six months of the sentence, and according to Persephone did it at a "federal country club" (probably a minimum security prison). Persephone speculates that Peter Thompson may have helped Vanderfield get out of prison early. Thompson was, at the time, the attorney for Vanderfield's fellow board member, Lawrence Peck.
Theories
Pickett mentions that "Shephard wasn't even on Jacob's list" in the episode I Do. He might be referring to Jacob Vanderfield.maybe LOST is finally starting to tie Hanso more into the storyline

I would bet a million gold flaky stars that is who Jacob is. The producers know they need to tie Dharma into this, and with this season being the season of the Others, what better time than now!

Remember what happens on the Hanso bio Page if you type "inmate asylum" under Jacob's name?

Excellent find, I think it would be really exciting if it played out this way.

Could be that Hanso purposedly posted a fake picture of Jacob.

I think Jacob is the guy in the beige car. The force that guided them all to Australia.

I think Jacob is the guy in the beige car. The force that guided them all to Australia. sorry to spoil your fun but... Answering the question in an interview on September 21, 2005, Damon Lindelof confirmed that this use of the same prop car in Hawaii to film the accident scenes in the different episodes was not intentionally significant.
