I think the the tally game is now over and no matter how many points Jay thinks he leads by has been trumped by this. Way to go Jack. Your theory was not only written into the show but you made the "Season Premier". You Da Man. Lets start fresh at 0-0 and may the best man win! ;D Anybody 2nd This?

When I found out that there was an underwater hatch during the airing of the first Season 3 ep., I immediately thought of Jack & cheered. Hooray for Jack! ;D

what are you talking about 'liars at the lost panel'? They said they wouldn't confirm nor deny it, which is more leaning towards the confirm side since they tend to deny stuff but pretty much never confirm anything until it's shown on the eppisode. but congrats to jack on his theory

Me and my friends have always believed in you.
Maybe Rose and Bernard will go and confront Christian about Dharma in: THE UNDERWATER HATCH?

Could the "underwater hatch" be just a part of a bigger animal studies facility named Hydra, where the others experiment on and observe polar bears, sharks and dolphins? This assumption could explain Juliette's quick appearances between the two locations, Sawyer/Kate's cages and Jack's tank.

Icetyu,
Totally agree. It is clear the Hydra station:
- is very near the ocean - is meant to house many different animals for testing - is not the town at the beginning of the premiere that the others live in.

Hate to spoil everyone's rejoicing, but we haven't been given absolute definitive answers yet. Yes I agree there is a lot of evidence supporting the assumption that there is an underwater hatch. But what about the rumors floating around out there about the possibility that The Hydra isn't underwater.
Why should we believe Juliet? Remember, Juliet is trying to break Jack down for their own nefarious purposes. As much as I would like to believe that there is an underwater hatch. There is some evidence to support the theory that The Hydra is underground, not underwater. And that water may be pumped down, creating an aquarium like environment for scientists to study the marine life.
1. For instance, after Kate got back from her seaside breakfast with Ben, time seemed to elapse, suggesting that either she had ample time to talk with Ben, or that she had to walk back to where Sawyer and Jack were located. 2. Ben and Juliet seem to be jumping around to the different captives very quickly, suggesting that they wouldn't have time to jump on a boat and get to The Hydra. Think about it, in "The Glass Ballerina" Ben wanted the boat that Jin, Sun, and Sayid had, suggesting that they, at the time, didn't have a boat. 3. It would make more sense if Dharma had all of their animal research info and experiments in one place rather than two. This way the scientists could share data more easily. 4. Jack was the first one to suggest that The Hydra was underwater, Juliet may have just been playing this advantage to her gain. It is more likely that she had planed to tell Jack this in the first place and had planned his escape. This would show Jack that there would be no chance of getting out of The Hydra without their assistance.
Anyway, I think that this could be a possibility.

Personally, I think the Hydra is either:
1. completely out of the water, all of it, with some portion of it an aquarium, probably near the ocean to pump fresh sea water in.
2. has a portion of the site underwater, which would be the part Jack is in. This doesn't mean it is way out to see. I agree it must be very close to the rest of the site, probably with a passage down to it on shore (as evidenced by Juliet coming from Jack and stunning Sawyer when he escaped)
I tend to think #2 is more likely because of the salt water dripping from the ceiling...

PS Either way I'm not sure it actually qualifies as the underwater hatch as HJ thought of it. Close enough though...
