They're here to . . watch? Well, so are we, but nobody is letting us! See, they want to know what happens too! And Jack is mad because they won't let him see the TV! Maybe he is more bitter than mad . .

And I have another thought on this:

Maybe, even if there isn't a "sickness" (which I believe there isn't), Ben's group might think there is or have recently discovered a new one and wanted to see if the Flight 815 survivors were infected. The "good" people were people they could test a vaccine on, or people they believed were already infected. When Cindy refers to watching, maybe she believes Jack is sick and they were watching for signs of illness, either to try and cure him or protect themselves.

This is probably totally wrong but it is based on some spoilerly stuff, so there you go.
