i dont think so cause he was talking with claire in the finale after the hatch blew up and she was talking normal and he could hear(that when he got his kiss)

I asked to gregg on the fuselage and he said that charlie has affect by the hatch and island.
I think that Charlie will change his mind and he will be very different maybe he will become crazy or dark but I'm sure that he will become more realistic |

However, I would go with this theory. I could definitely see the producers try to trick us on this one... |

the only reason i dont believe that charlie is deaf is because weve already seen him interact with claire after the explosion, she was talking to him and he heard her fine

Perhaps Locke is the one that is having problems hearing and is using the pad and paper in order to avoid spreading concern at Charlie standing guard over something. Of course in reality if Charlie was losing his hearing that would drastically effect his musical abilites and cause a great deal of stress...in theory.

also, if locke wants charlie to stand guard, woulndt he be a rubbish guard as he cannot hear well? so someone could sneak up and charlie wouldnt hear it

Whatever the reason, it does seem to appear that Locke will become the new leader. Unless that "Brazilian Tom Cruise" says something otherwise. Ugh, we don't need another Tom Cruise. One is enough.
