Well, I don't know what the next one is going to be. But Sawyer won a autographed Jorge Garcia (the actor who plays Hurley) picture last month.

Just to join the Lord of the Rings fans, I read the Hobbit (courtesy of my Grandma) when I was 8 (waaaaay back in 1978)...and have read that and LOTR (as well as The Silmarillion, and Tales of Middle-Earth etc. etc) about, oh, a dozen or so times apiece. Probably more for the Hobbit. Some of my favorite books of all time. I had some minor issues with the movies (mostly The Two Towers) but for the most part I love them.
The only thing I regret is that Tolkien didn't really go into more detail about Minas Morgul. I always wanted to know more about it..

Awesome! Another book fan! And you read the Tales of Middle Earth! I've been reading the Silmarillion on and off for a few months. It's very, very good despite the absence of my favorite race, dear old Hobbits. And I agree with you about Minus Morgul, every time I read about it I want to know more. ;D I have my reservations about the movies as well. Mostly with the first one. I found myself aching for the Old Forest and the Barrow-wights. But most of all I just wish they hadn't sacrificed Frodo's character development for the sake of Arwen . And poor Legolas! What did they do to you! The third movie more than made up for it though, despite the stinging loss of 'Scouring of the Shire'. Okay, my rant's done. (Actually, I haven't even begun yet, but I'll spare you all some severe boredom.)

It's not boring - I could talk movies/books all day long (in fact I'm beginning to work on a podcast for such things). I thought the Scouring of the Shire would have been interesting, but after listening to Peter Jackson talk about it, I understand why they got rid of it.
Glad to see I'm not the only person who has issues with the films though.

Yeah something would have been nice to put in there (scouring of the shire, tom bombodil...) but what you think about it, they're better left out.
like Tom Bombodil, people who hadn't read the bookks would have been like "ok who was that" and they'd be really confused, I mean it's not like he comes back, but it works in the books.
Same with the Scouring of the Shire, people already thought it had to many endings and it would have been wierd if it was like, Oh yay Frodo destrod the ring! how happy! now all evil is distroyed, lets return to the shire! then they return and they've got a whole other thing to deal with...
plus rememeber if you included those (and other beloved scenes) these would have been like 5 hours long! No one wants to watch a movie for 5 hours!
anyway, yes some scenes would have been nice, but I think they're beeter left out.

Of course, those scenes are left out, and rightly so. It's the things they could have done easily but didn't that irks me. I mean, the aftermath of Frodo's stabbing was cringe worthy. The whole point is that Frodo is special and strong and able to withstand freaky Morgul Blades . I would be okay with the whole "Arwen Interlude" if they just had Frodo stand up to the Ring Wraiths alone, without looking like he was about to keel over. *Second rant finished* I got the extended edition movies last year though, and was much happier with The Two Towers than before. Especially because of the added dialouge during the Uruk scenes. Still as shudder inducing as ever.

I like the story of why Tom Bombadil was in Fellowship of the Ring to begin with. It's a classic.

Hey guys! My name is Josselyn and I am from Los Angeles, California ( not Los Angeles, Arkansas!). I'm a bit of a geek and spend most of my free time glued to my computer searching for pictures and info about my favorite fandoms (Lost, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc). I'm new to forums though, so I may be lurking for a while before I start posting 5 million times a day. Also, I'm addicted to podcasts. And I'd like to note that Jay & Jack have the best Lost podcast. HJ has a way sexier voice than Jen from The Transmission, and Jay ROCKS. Anyways, I guess that's about it

Hey, Joss. I'm Emma. Hmmm...I wonder if the girls outnumber the guys here? Well, at least we're starting to at any rate. Sorry, that was a crappy welcome. Enjoy your stay at our boards! Jay is sure to get you all suited up in a bit. And if people mention a certian "rebellion" just smile, nod and back away.
