Does this really mean that Libby was lying about being a psychiatrist? Or is it possible that she became a psychiatrist, went off the deep end, and ended up in the crazy house?Or maybe she did time in the loony bin, then got better and became a shrink? We don't know how much time between Hurley winning the Lotto and getting LOST was, so it's possible that Libby got out a little after Hurley, and became ashrink before coming to the island? Whatdya think?

It is possible that Libby became a psychiatrist after getting out of the bin... however, that's a lot of schooling, and I don't think she had enough time to pursue it. It is more likely that she was a shrink prior to being in the loony bin. A lot of psychiatrists go through a period of crisis at some point, because they have no one to go to with their problems except colleagues, and all day they listen to the bad things other people are experiencing. I imagine it is stressful. However, I'm going to say that I think Libby is an Other planted to watch Hurley, we haven't seen a flash back of her, so it could be truel. We'll see, right now Lost is playing with us, we are liable to find out Libby has a crazy twin sister or something. So,I don't think she became a shrink between her time in the bin and her visit to the island, but she may have been one before hand, or she's just a liar. which has been suggested on occasion

Makes sense to me that she's watching Hurley. Why was she in Australia? Did she ever say? Her hair was darker when she was in the institute. Them loons don't spend too much grooming time (I'd imagine)... so maybe she was disguising herself a little bit...?

maybe she was in the institute because she is crazy and she fell for Hurley. So she started stalking him after they both got out. She then pretended to be a psychiatrist. She's using the lingo that the doctors used on her while she was institutionalized............. or she's a dharma employee |

About the schooling she would need, .... She didn't say she was a Psychiatrist (Dr. with lots of school), I think she said therapist, or psychologist. I don't think there are requirements to call yourself a 'psycologist'. She could have started practice the moment she left the institution, no school needed.
