In the first episode, Cindy speaks to Jack on the plane with an American accent. But for the second episode, and the rest of the series, she speaks with an Australian accent. At first, I wrote this off as a continuity error, but after HJ's theory that Cindy is an Other, I find it very interesting. Did anyone else notice this?

btw, sry i forgot to direct this question to Jack, so let me rephrase: Jack, do you think this has any connection to your "Cindy is an Other" theory?

i still dont understand why HJ decided to pin point Cindy as an other. is there something she did specifically that would lead you to believe that HJ? and i think that the whole Accent thing is a bit strange, unless one is to believe that cindy is a clone, posing as the flight attendant. that would explain american accent on plane, and no accent on island. unless her accent was cured the way that Locke's legs were cured

only problem with the clone theory is: cindy got her australian accent in the plane flashback in the second episode, and in all plane flashbacks following. my guess is, the writers decided that it would make more sense if she was australian because the plane left from australia, but hopefully, this gets cleared up.

I just don't trust Cindy. My wife name is Cyndi, maybe that has something to do with it.

that makes perfect sense! it totally validates your argument, and that answer totally works for me.

I've just wathced the Pilot again and Cindy is definatly speaking with an Austrailian accent. It's not as obvious as the rest of the series, but it is definatly Austrailian. Saying that, she might just have a really crap American accent.

Cindy is quite the mystery...was she just a plant and they "took" her. Or possibly her accent was changed because they didn't know they were gonna bring her back.

I wonder if they didn't know they were gonna bring her back at the time...."ok, your character from now on is Austrailian."

I think Cindy is an Other too... if she wasn't, then why wouldn't they have taken her in one of the previous raids? If her name had been on the list of people to take, Ana- Lou-Who would have mentioned it. So, they didn't intend to take her... Everyone they did take, was taken in clusters. They took bunches at a time, and they did so at night. therefore, suddenly nabbing Cindy off the trail is inconsistent enough to make me think she might have left on her own accord. Plus, if she had struggled, we might have heard it like we heard Mr. Eko struggle, and didn't we hear one of the children scream? Why wouldn't she struggle? If she isn't an Other, I'll be stunned.

Me, too. I think she sneaked off while they were distracted.

She very well may have been aware of the iminent crash and gave him that alcohol, knowing he would need to use it to dress some wounds very soon...
IF she was a Dharmie....
