Very interesting idea, Jack about Desmond and Jack Shephard being half brothers. Still, it is quite a stretch to think that Jack Shephard who is under extreme stress is going to remember a lady's face from 15 years before. I don't know.
I do believe that there is more of a connection than just running the stadium, though. Jack Shephard's reaction was just too strong, and to run Desmond down with a gun. . . Hmmmm.

I can confirm that calling someone 'brutha' isn't like a Scottish thing. If Desmond is supposed to be Scottish, then saying 'brutha' to Jack couldn't be classed as an accent or anything. It may well mean something. The only time i have ever come across it is in the phrase 'Yeah brutha' which is what someone might say to a person who is clearly lying. But it is not something i would expect some jewish American writers to know about, being a fairly limited colloquial term.
So, hey... they could be related. But that would mean Desmond knew that, even before he set out on his unexplained round the world in some kind of boat thing. Maybe he was driving the gold American car that crashed into some of the people. The Dharma flashback appearing guy.

Maybe hes a preast, like Eko. They call every one borther. Yeah, Desmond is a stadium running, round world sailing, cross island fleeing, kind of preast. ;D

But if Jack's step-mom/ or his dad's affair had moved to australia then Desmond wouldn't have a scottish accent.

Is that a Scottish accent? Some of you Scottsmen out there, does Desmond sound Scottish? My son had a teacher from Scotland one year, and she sounded a bit different than Desmond.

What if Yemmi (Eko's brother) is also Scottish?! And what if he also knows Desmond? One crazy proof for that would be: when he and his bro where in the church (ep10 i guess) and he said he won't help eko, he left and said something along the lines of:"It's good to see you again, brother"

I think you might be on to something wesh.... BRILLIANT lol
Seriously tho, Dezmund is about the same age as jack. And Jack didn't make it sound as if the supposed 'affair' had happened in his childhood. In any case, Jack didn't recognize dezmond as his bro in the stadium, which means that if your theory about them being brothers is correct, Jack's dad mustve told him in between the stadium scene and the scene where jack's signing the papers.
Just wondering, did jack or his dad hint about an afair during any of his other flashbacks?
