Here's my crackpot theory of the week:
The "Others" crash landed during operation desert storm (not sure on this, just making it up) and they were all upset and anti-war stuff. So then they started kidnapping kids, honing their skills and their own to form their own army and singlehandedly take out the Republican Guard and the U.S. Forces. But they lost their sense of time so they don't realize the war is over and they're still building their army. There. Take that and run with it Handsome Jack.

i think it may be because the kids are more able to learn all the ninja skills stuff, and it looks like they may even have their own little gang.
it looked like kids who walked past michael and jin when they were playing at delta force.
